The No 2 bus

The shortening of the No 2 has cut Wash Common's direct link to Monks Lane, Tesco and the retail park, and leaves residents along Monks Lane itself without a service. The Council's answer is that the No 8 now covers Pigeon's Farm and Tesco, and that Wash Common gains extra journeys into town — but a change of bus in the middle of a shopping trip is a real barrier for anyone elderly, disabled, or carrying anything heavy, and there is no reason a route carrying 6,400 passengers a week should have been trimmed without proper consultation with the people who use it. I've asked officers at West Berkshire Council to set out the options for restoring the through service, and I'll post their response here.
